AWS Cost Explorer launches intelligent cost explanations powered by Amazon Q

Amazon Web Services has launched a new AI-powered feature called 'Analyze with Amazon Q' within its Cost Explorer service, enabling customers to receive automated cost analysis and explanations with a single click. The capability leverages Amazon Q Developer to provide comprehensive breakdowns of cost trends, identify top spending drivers, and highlight anomalies across any configured Cost Explorer report, using the exact filters and time periods specified by users. The feature addresses the previously manual and time-intensive process of investigating AWS spending patterns across multiple data points and filters. Amazon Q adapts its analysis based on the viewing context, delivering historical explanations for past expenditures, forecast analysis for future periods, or combined insights for mixed timeframes. Users can engage in follow-up conversations to dive deeper into specific cost insights while maintaining full conversational context throughout the session. The intelligent cost analysis feature is now available across all commercial AWS regions at no additional charge, accessible directly through the AWS Cost Explorer console.
