AWS Savings Plans Purchase Analyzer now supports target coverage analysis

Amazon Web Services has enhanced its Savings Plans Purchase Analyzer with a new target coverage analysis feature that helps organizations optimize their cloud spending strategies. The capability, available through AWS Billing and Cost Management, allows customers to set specific percentage targets for On-Demand spending they want covered by Savings Plans, then uses historical usage data to recommend optimal purchase amounts to reach those targets. Users can customize their analysis with parameters such as custom lookback periods or exclusion of expiring Savings Plans. The target coverage analysis enables customers to compare cost, coverage, utilization, and savings metrics across different coverage scenarios through interactive charts or programmatic access via the Purchase Analyzer API. This enhancement addresses a key challenge in cloud financial management where organizations struggle to balance cost optimization with operational flexibility when committing to reserved capacity pricing models. The feature is now available across all AWS Regions where Savings Plans Purchase Analyzer operates, providing enterprise customers with more sophisticated tools for cloud cost planning and optimization. Organizations can now model different commitment scenarios to find the optimal balance between guaranteed savings and maintaining flexibility for variable workloads.
