AWS Application Migration Service is now AWS Transform MGN

Amazon Web Services has rebranded its Application Migration Service (MGN) as AWS Transform MGN, positioning the service as the core replication engine for AWS Transform, the company's agentic migration platform. The name change reflects the service's expanded role in AWS's migration strategy, where it now powers both direct migration workflows and automated agent-driven processes that handle discovery, wave planning, and infrastructure setup. Customers can now choose between two distinct migration approaches: using the AWS Transform MGN console for hands-on control over replication and cutover processes, or leveraging the AWS Transform agentic workflow that automates complex migration tasks including landing zone configuration and network creation. The agentic approach can handle both traditional rehosting and containerization of applications during migration to AWS. The renamed service maintains all existing compliance certifications including FedRAMP High, HIPAA, PCI DSS, ISO, and SOC standards, ensuring enterprise customers can continue migrating sensitive workloads. AWS Transform MGN is available across all AWS commercial regions and both GovCloud regions, providing broad geographic coverage for migration projects.
