Claude Opus 4.8 is now available on AWS

Amazon Web Services has made Claude Opus 4.8, Anthropic's most advanced AI model to date, available to customers through both Amazon Bedrock and Claude Platform on AWS. The new model represents significant improvements in autonomous coding capabilities, professional knowledge work, and long-running tasks for enterprises building production AI applications. Claude Opus 4.8 can read and understand codebases like an engineer, planning before making edits and maintaining context across extended development sessions in real repositories. The model demonstrates enhanced agentic capabilities, including better obstacle navigation, error recovery, and decision-making about when to seek assistance versus continuing independently. For knowledge work applications, it offers improved synthesis across lengthy documents and complex sources, with built-in output verification and structured deliverable creation. AWS customers can access the model through Amazon Bedrock for AWS-integrated features like Guardrails and Knowledge Bases with regional data residency, or through Claude Platform on AWS for direct access to Anthropic's native platform experience with unified AWS billing and authentication.
