Amazon SageMaker expands domain management across domain types

Amazon Web Services has expanded domain management capabilities in SageMaker Unified Studio to support both Identity Center-based and IAM-based domains, marking a significant enhancement to the platform's administrative functionality. Previously, administrators could only manage IAM-based domains through the unified portal, but the new update extends the same comprehensive management experience to Identity Center domains, allowing teams to create projects, configure workforce identity, manage user permissions, and set networking properties directly within the SageMaker Unified Studio interface rather than requiring access to the AWS console. The enhancement enables administrators of Identity Center-based domains to create projects with configurable execution roles that define access to specific AWS analytics, AI, and ML services. VPC configuration remains consistent across both domain types and is inherited by all projects within a domain, with administrators retaining the ability to modify VPC settings, subnets, and security groups as needed. The update also includes improved multi-account management capabilities, allowing users to publish and consume data across different AWS accounts within the unified studio environment. The feature is now available across all AWS regions where SageMaker Unified Studio operates, representing AWS's continued effort to streamline machine learning operations and provide more flexible identity management options for enterprise customers managing complex AI and ML workflows.
