AWS Directory Service expands directory security settings with STIG-aligned controls for Managed AD

AWS Directory Service for Microsoft Active Directory has introduced new security settings that align with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) for Windows Server and Active Directory. The enhanced security controls are specifically designed for high-impact security environments and help organizations meet directory-level security and compliance requirements, particularly for regulated industries and security-focused customers. The STIG-aligned configurations are now available through both the AWS Management Console and programmatically via APIs, enabling security and identity management professionals to maintain consistent security postures across multiple managed directories. When organizations expand to additional AWS regions or scale with new domain controllers, the service automatically applies these security settings to all new instances, ensuring persistent compliance across the infrastructure.
